50-minute session of individual or couple psychotherapy session: $170
80-minute couple and relationship counselling session: $272
Additional fees may be charged if you require letters or reports to be written on your behalf or for telephone conversations lasting longer than 10 minutes (prorated to my normal hourly charge).
I currently only accept e-transfer as a payment method. Payment may be made out to hanna@hannawatkinspsychotherapy.com.
As a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) and Registered Marriage and Family Therapist (RMFT) may be covered by your extended health care benefits. Please inquire with your specific plan to learn more. I do not do direct billing. Receipts for sessions will be provided upon payment.
I offer both in-person and virtual services.
Virtual sessions take place either over the phone or via secure videoconferencing. While there are a lot of benefits to virtual sessions, including accessibility and convenience, it is important to be aware of the drawbacks. Some information is lost when conducting therapy via video conferencing services (e.g. body language). As well, technical issues can arise that may cause interruptions in the session or result in reduced audio or vide quality. When these issues arise, I will do my best to resolve them to be able to proceed with our session.
I offer in-person sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Waterdown, ON. Come to my bright and open, accessible office and meet me in person! Book now!
Yes! I offer evening appointments one day per week (Wednesdays) and Saturday morning appointments (virtual only), subject to availability. Please reach out to discuss further!
Yes! I offer a 15-minute complimentary phone/video consult. This can be helpful to ensure we are a good fit for the therapy process. You can ask me any questions that you have. I’ll ask you for a brief description of what you were hoping to get out of counselling. We will also discuss the structure of the first session, fees, and other administrative information that you might want to know. You are not obligated to book thereafter if you do not wish to. You can have some time to think about it and come back, or it’s okay if you’re not sure that we're a good fit and leave it at that. However, I would be happy to book our first session if you feel ready to go ahead after our chat. You can book here.
I require 48 hours of notice for any cancellation or rescheduling, otherwise, my full session fee will be charged. This fee will also be charged if you do not show up to our scheduled session and do not provide any notice. You will not be able to rebook until this fee is paid. If you are late for an appointment for any reason, we will be able to continue for the remainder of the session time but unfortunately, I will not be able to extend the length of the session time. You will be charged the full rate.
A special note for couples counselling: If one partner is unable to keep the appointment, it will need to be cancelled and rescheduled according to the guidelines above. I will not see one partner alone unless this is previously arranged (and I do so for all partners). This is to ensure there are no secrets and to prevent unhelpful dynamics (e.g. perceptions of siding) from emerging.
You can reschedule and cancel appointments here.
I genuinely believe that anyone ready for change can benefit from therapy. Certainly, most of us could benefit at one point in our lives or another.
I work with individuals and couples 18+ residing and currently located in Ontario, Canada. I am unable to offer services to residents of other provinces/countries, or if you are not physically present in Ontario.
The fit with one’s therapist is so important to the therapeutic process. Even great therapists don’t fit with every client. This is why I offer a 15-minute complimentary phone/video consult so we can get to know each other. Please reach out if you’d like to get to know each other! You can also read more about me here! Learn more about the different kinds of mental health professionals that are out there to decide which one might be best for you.
Therapy is a very personal and individualized process and therefore it is impossible to predict how long a person/couple might be in therapy for. It can be as short as a few sessions, or ongoing over years. It depends on how motivated you are to engage in the work, how complex the work is, and for how long you find it helpful.
There’s no commitment, so we can start the process and review from time to time to ensure you feel as though we are meeting your goals. Whenever you’re ready to leave counselling, we can wrap up our work together, hopefully sending you on your merry way! You can always reach back out if you hit a rough patch and want to resume counselling (subject to availability).
